Ingenuine Optimism
Genuity is more important than beauty or youth. Both will fade but people are always looking for someone who doesn’t have a secret agenda. A secret agenda always comes with the chase for beauty. It shows you are incapable of introspection. you may claim to be introspective but when you end up clueless and suicidal on a Tuesday afternoon, you will not know why and you will have wished you could know yourself better. Now it will take years for you to unhate yourself. You will hate everyone else in the process. It will be as if they are wearing mirrors that only show what you regret and block out the great leaps you have made. You will know you have done a lot of meaningful shit during your short stay on this Earth but will not be able to name it, because you are still reeling from the previous nights drinking and drug binge, hoping to find purpose in intoxication and the admiration of shallow strangers.
Cynics are cynical for a reason. Optimists are optimistic either because they haven’t suffered (and therefore probably never will so their opinions are meaningless), optimism is fashionable, or they are afraid of the truth. The man with a chip on his shoulder will be more honest than you are comfortable hearing. It is uncomfortable because it is true. Lies feel better than truth does. Seek pain. it is the only honesty.
